Welcome to Neurofeedback Tutor: An Introduction!

BioSource Software designed Neurofeedback Tutor: An Introduction to aid your BCIA Neurofeedback exam preparation. BCIA has accredited Neurofeedback Tutor (An Introduction and Assessment and Training) for 36 hours of didactic and continuing education credit.

This multimedia tutorial completely covers the Orientation (Definition, History, Learning, Assumptions), Neurobiology (Neurophysiology, Neuroanatomy, Psychopharmacology), Instrumentation (Terms, Signal Acquisition, Signal Processing, Aseptic Techniques, Demonstration), Research (Efficacy Criteria, Key Studies), and Ethics rubrics of the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance's (BCIA) Blueprint of Knowledge for Neurofeedback Certification.

The depth and breadth of coverage exceed the BCIA Blueprint to provide an educational resource for your practice. BioSource Software will periodically update content to reflect scientific advances.

John Anderson, John Davis, and Fred Shaffer authored Neurofeedback Tutor: An Introduction and its companion Neurofeedback Tutor: Assessment and Training.

Appreciation

The authors are indebted to Jay Gunkelman, who is our dear friend, mentor, and force of nature. We cannot imagine the neurofeedback field without his seminal contributions.

We are also indebted to Michael and Lynda Thompson for their friendship and scholarship. Their Neurofeedback Book has educated a generation of neurofeedback professionals.

The authors are grateful to Bio-Medical Instruments, BrainMaster, the Houston Neuroscience Brain Clinic, Mind Media, and Thought Technology Ltd. who generously provided graphics and videos.

Five references deserve a place on your reference shelf. We found them invaluable in writing Neurofeedback Tutor: Assessment and Training.

John Foley, a Truman State University graduate, coded Introduction to Neurofeedback in HTML5 and designed and maintained our server infrastructure. He is brilliant, generous, and focused on providing the best possible user experience.

Dedication

This product is dedicated to Judy Crawford, Executive Director Emerita of the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA). Judy has been a passionate advocate for certificants and the field for several decades. She managed BCIA's day-to-day operations, provided extraordinary care for its applicants and certificants, and kept it focused on serving the needs of its stakeholders in the biofeedback and neurofeedback communities.

September 2011, ISNR awarded Judy the Joel F. Lubar award to recognize her long service to ISNR and the advancement of the field. In March 2013, AAPB recognized her contributions to the field with a Presidential award. In September 2016, ISNR presented her with its prestigious Lifetime Membership award. In March 2019, AAPB, BCIA, and ISNR jointly awarded Judy their first Lifetime Achievement Award.

Judy is why BCIA's certificants are "More than qualified – BCIA Board Certified!"
